Smokey, whiskey soaked vocals, and a stage full of attitude. The Detroit Cobras are the rockingest cover band I've ever heard. The Cobras mine the vinyl of music history for obscure rock and r&b songs that they can put their own imprint on. The Cobras song catalog is more in the vein of bluesmen who play standards than that of a cover band who mimics the original version of material. click here for their web site
When you add up the Detroit Cobras, Broadzilla, Demoliton Doll Rods, The White Stripes, you have to ask the question: Does Detroit's female population completely consist of tattooed rocker chicks? And if so, why aren't I spending more time there?
