Belize, 2011

We loved Belize from our first trip there in 1996, but we never got around to going back there until now. This trip was in February 2011, it was short, 6 days 5 nights, but action packed. We wished we could have taken more time on our drives, but each driving day we had to make time if we wanted to get to our destintation before nightfall. So a lot of the countryside photos were snapped on the fly out the car windows. Our itinerary was this:

• Day 1. Fly American Air, Colubmus->Miami->Belize Intl. Arrive, rent a car, and drive west 1 1/2 hours to San Ignacio, Stay at Cahal Pech Village Inn Resort, dinner at hotel
• Day 2. Tour Cahal Pech ruins adjacent to hotel, tour Xunantunich ruins, 15 minutes west. Drive south and east to Placencia a small town on the coast. 3 hour drive plus lunch break in Belmopan at Pasquales Pizza. Stay at Chabil Mar resort Placencia.
• Day 3. Chill at the beach, kayaking from the hotel, dinner and bars in town.
• Day 4. Snorkling, shopping and sighseeing. dinner and bars in town
• Day 5. Check out, drive one hour to Cockscomb Jaguar Reserve. Drive 2 more hours to the Belize Zoo near Belmopan. Stay at the Belize Zoo Tropical Education Center, private night tour of the zoo.
• Day 6. Heading home, drive 40 minutes to Belize City Intl Airport
